Gemini app Advertisement: Google has denied claims that it is planning to introduce advertising in Gemini. A report claimed that the Mountain View-based tech giant is planning to bring ads to its flagship chatbot platform by 2026. It was being said that this step will help the company to earn directly from Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot. However, according to a Google official, the company currently has no plans to launch advertisements in Gemini.
Google says ad claims in Gemini are false
In a post on It is noteworthy that these officials were reacting to a report by Adweek, which was the first to report on this matter. “This story is based on unknown, anonymous sources making false claims. There are no ads in the Gemini app and there are no current plans to change this,” he wrote in his post.
Google’s explanation
A publication had made false claims
In fact, this publication had claimed that Google contacted its advertising clients and told them that it plans to start advertising in Gemini on the web and mobile apps in 2026. The report cites unnamed agency buyers familiar with the negotiations. A source also reportedly told Adweek that ads in Gemini are different from those shown in AI mode. However, no details like technical specifications, price and placement details were mentioned with it.
Although after Dan Taylor’s clarification, there is currently no sign of advertising coming to Gemini, but what will happen about its future, it is difficult to say right now because without depending on the income from Application Programming Interface (API) credits and subscriptions, Google has no other strong source of earning from AI chatbot.
There is also a claim of testing advertisements on OpenAI ChatGPT
Several reports claimed that OpenAI is testing ads on ChatGPT and may soon release it for a larger user base. While this was before CEO Sam Altman reportedly declared code red and halted advertising plans, these are still expected to arrive soon. With OpenAI starting this trend, Google would have faced less criticism than the company that did it earlier, hence similar claims were made for Google that it too is finding a way to earn money through advertisements in its AI chatbot.
