Instagram New Feature: Instagram is now bringing a new feature through which you will be able to control which topics its algorithm should recommend to you. For the first time, Instagram will let you control the topics suggested by its algorithms. Just like it can be done on TikTok now. This new feature is starting with the Reels tab but will gradually become available in Explore and other parts of the app. The name of this feature will be ‘Your Algorithm’. Like everything Meta is doing now, the ‘Your Algorithm’ feature will also be powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Currently, the new ‘Your Algorithm’ feature for the Reels tab launches yesterday only in the US and will be available in other regions later on.
What will be in your algorithm feature
The new feature called Your Algorithm will show you which topics Instagram considers interesting for you at present. You can choose from these topics which topics and content you want to see more and which you want to see less or not at all. If you want, you can also add new topics yourself, that is, you can update the algorithm if your interests change.
What is the benefit of this new feature
Now you will see only the content that is of your interest, meaning you have the option to remove unwanted content and topics. Your feed will be more personalized than ever according to your likes and dislikes. If you want to reduce the arbitrariness of Instagram, then this feature can help.

Instagram wrote in its blog post that “As your interests change over time, we want to give you more meaningful ways to control what you see. Using AI, you can now easily see and personalize the topics that shape your Reels.” With this, your reels will play according to your interest.
How to set your reels algorithm
To view and control the Reels algorithm, open your algorithm by tapping on the icon (two lines with a heart) in the upper right corner. This will show what topics you are interested in according to Instagram. You can then decide which topics you want to see more or less of, and your recommendations will change accordingly. You can set the topics even better.
See your top picks: See a summary of the topics you’re most interested in according to Instagram at the top.
Change your preferences: Type in the topics you want to see more or less of, and your reels will appear according to your preferences.
Share your algorithm: If you want, you can share your interests on your Story so that your friends and followers can see what you’re interested in.
