Fenugreek Parathas

Everyone likes to eat fenugreek parathas during winter season. But sometimes the slight bitterness of fenugreek spoils the taste. The good thing is that a small solution reduces this bitterness completely. If you just add this one thing to the flour before kneading the dough, then there will be no bitterness in the parathas. Let us know how to make it?

Ingredients to make Methi Paratha:

Fresh fenugreek 1 cup finely chopped, wheat flour 2 cups, curd 2–3 tbsp, green chilli 1–2 finely chopped, ginger 1 small piece grated, red chilli powder half tsp, turmeric half tsp, coriander powder half tsp, celery half tsp, salt as per taste, oil/ghee for baking the paratha.

Method to make Methi Paratha:

  • First step: Take flour in a big vessel and add curd to it and mix well with hands. Adding a little curd while kneading the dough keeps the fenugreek paratha from tasting bitter. Curd balances the bitterness of fenugreek and the parathas become even softer.

  • Second step: While kneading the dough, add fenugreek, celery, ginger, green chillies, spices and salt. Knead a soft dough by gradually adding water and keep it covered for 10 minutes.

  • Third step: After kneading the dough, make balls of the dough and roll out the parathas. Now turn on the gas and heat the pan, add some oil/ghee and cook the paratha until it turns golden from both the sides.

  • Fourth step: Now, serve these parathas with curd, pickle or white butter. Now fenugreek parathas will not be bitter but will be very tasty!
