How much water should be given to the plant in winter

The growth of plants becomes very slow in winter. Plants are also affected by falling temperature, less sunlight and increasing cold. Adding too much or less water to plants in winter can cause them to die. For this, it is important for you to know when, how much and at what temperature water should be given to the plants in winter. Some people also add hot water to the plants in winter. But should this be done? Let us know.

In fact, the requirement of water for plants also reduces in winter. If too much water is given to the plants, moisture can accumulate in the soil, due to which the roots of the plant start rotting and the plant can become weak. This may cause the plant to die in the long run. If you keep the plant indoors thinking it will be cold, it has an even worse effect on the plant. Giving too much water to a potted plant can cause fungal infection or rot in the roots.

Should hot water be poured into plants in winter?

Even though it is winter season, you should avoid pouring hot water on the plants. This may damage the roots of the plant. It would be better if you pour only lukewarm i.e. room temperature water into the plants. This prevents the roots from getting burnt and also avoids stress. Try to keep the plants in a sunny place. Instead of keeping the plants directly in the open, keep them on the balcony or in a covered shed. Due to this, plants will not get damaged due to frost.

When and how much to water plants in winter?

Avoid watering too much during cold days. Water the plant only when it appears that the soil of the plant has become dry. If the soil is wet then do not water the plant. In winter, plants should be watered when the day temperature is highest. That means plants should be watered in the afternoon. Due to this the soil absorbs water quickly and water does not accumulate.
