Navi Mumbai: A 40-year-old orthopedic surgeon residing in Kharghar was defrauded of Rs 1.08 crore after investing in online share trading that promised high returns. The surgeon registered a cheating case at the cyber police station on Tuesday. As per the complainant, in Sept, he was contacted on WhatsApp by the accused, who was the admin of a WhatsApp group named ‘Anand Rathi Bulls Insight’ with 21 members. The victim was provided with a link to download an app called ‘ARSSBL’, where his personal information was collected. He was then provided with various bank accounts for investment through the app. The gang of cyber fraudsters made the doctor transfer the amount gradually between Sept 2 and Oct 8. After the victim was unable to withdraw his profit, he registered an FIR against three WhatsApp group admins and 24 members, the creator of the app, and the bank account holders to whom he was made to transfer his investment amount.
