Mumbai: The economic offences wing (EOW) of the police on Tuesday recorded the statement of Arun Khurana, executive director and former deputy CEO of IndusInd Bank, in connection with the alleged accounting irregularities worth around Rs 1,960 crore.The EOW’s banking unit registered a preliminary enquiry and has begun a probe. The investigation originates from a complaint filed by the bank’s own management, which flagged misaccounted derivative trades leading to significant losses. Investigators are examining whether the trades were incorrectly recorded, causing financial discrepancies amounting to nearly Rs 1,960 crore.The EOW has issued summons to three senior executives of IndusInd Bank, including managing director and CEO Sumant Kathpalia, Govind Jain, chief financial officer, and Khurana. Police on Monday recorded the statement of Jain.No FIR has been registered yet, as the agency is still assessing whether the matter constitutes a cognisable offence.
