Maharashtra NewsMumbai: MSEDCL to give 95% rooftop solar subsidy to economically weaker citizens for free electricity | Mumbai News

Mumbai: MSEDCL on Monday commenced a scheme for providing 90-95% subsidy on rooftop solar for citizens below the poverty line (BPL), SC, and ST consumers having monthly power consumption below 100 units, so that they can generate solar power and get zero monthly electricity bills. The scheme will be for 5 lakh consumers. Due to subsidies from central and state govts, beneficiary consumers under this scheme will have to pay a very small share, said MSEDCL managing director Lokesh Chandra. This scheme will be implemented on a first-come, first-served basis. Instructions regarding the implementation of this scheme were given in the recent state-level meeting of MSEDCL’s directors and chief engineers.
