Mumbai: The Malwani police registered a case under Pocso Act against a man after he hugged a school-going girl waiting on the street with her friends and made lewd remarks. Police said the accused was inebriated. He was produced before a sessions court at Dindoshi and remanded in police custody.The incident was reported on Tuesday. The 14-year-old girl studies in a school in Malwani. She was with her friends when the man suddenly came near her and hugged her. He made lewd gestures and asked her to come with him for a drive. The girl and her friends were terrified. After they raised an alarm, passersby caught hold of the accused and informed the police.
Officials took the accused into custody and are verifying if he has a prior criminal record.
