Magicpin-Rapido Partnership: Magicpin, the country’s third largest company in this sector, has partnered with Rapido to compete with online food delivery platforms Zomato and Swiggy. A person familiar with this incident gave this information. He said that in this partnership, Magicpin will connect its huge restaurant network across the country with Rapido owned platform Only. Only was introduced in August. With this agreement, Rapido’s company Only will get access to more than 80,000 restaurants across the country. Magicpin will benefit from Rapido’s delivery network in some areas.
“We connect most of the restaurants directly with our own merchant team,” a Rapido spokesperson told PTI. A very small portion comes from partners like Magicpin. We also help Magicpin and other companies as logistics partners in select cities. Rapido primarily onboards restaurants directly through our merchant team, and a small number through partners like MagicPin. We also work with Magicpin and others as a logistics provider in select cities, where our Captain fleet supports last-mile delivery.
The partnership opens up Magicpin’s larger restaurant base to Rapido, which launched Only in August and plans to expand beyond Bengaluru. Once the onboarding process is complete, Rapido’s Only will have access to over 80,000 restaurants across the country, while MagicPin will have access to Rapido’s delivery fleet at select locations.
Despite promises of change, the Magicpin-Rapido alliance still faces challenges. Food delivery remains a tough, low-margin business, where the balance of rider payments, delivery costs and customer discounts can make or break its viability. At the same time, the pair will need to focus on building stronger relationships with brands and restaurants, many of which already struggle with multiple delivery platforms.
