Vaseline or Glycerine
When it comes to skincare, trends keep changing, but there are a few things that have proven to be reliable through and through, like Vaseline and glycerin. But which is better for skin in winter, Vaseline or glycerin? Let us tell you.
Vaseline vs Glycerine:
Both Vaseline and Glycerine hydrate the skin. These are often used on the face by mixing them with lotion. Vaseline forms a moisture-sealing layer on the skin, while glycerine draws moisture from the air and into the skin. These two together are excellent for healing dry skin. But let us know which is more beneficial among these two?
What are the benefits of both?
-
Benefits of Vaseline: If your skin is very dry, cracked, rough or irritated, then Vaseline acts like a seal. It protects the skin from cold wind. It is great for cracked lips and heels. It is also effective on rough areas like elbows, knees, hands. However, it can be harmful for oily or acne-prone skin.
-
Benefits of Glycerine: If your skin is tight, lifeless or dehydrated, glycerin pulls out moisture and revives it. It is light and non-greasy. With its use the skin becomes soft and smooth. It is also beneficial for oily and sensitive skin. However, using glycerin alone in extreme cold can further dry out the skin if it is not sealed topically.
Whose use is more beneficial?
Use of both Vaseline and Glycerine is beneficial for dry skin but if you want healing and protection then use Vaseline. If moisture and softness is desired then use of glycerine is beneficial. But if you want more benefits then use both of them together. First hydrate the skin with glycerin, then lock that moisture with Vaseline.
