A revolution is taking place in the field of technology in India. Under the Self-reliant India Mission of the Central Government, indigenous supercomputer can be available by 2030. Amitesh Kumar Sinha, head of India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) has given this information at the Supercomputing India Conference 2025. Amitesh Sinha said that by the year 2030, our entire supercomputer system will be Indian. After this, supercomputers will start being sold in the market by 2032.

He said in this conference that at present more than 50 percent of the parts of supercomputers used in India are made in India. This will go above 70 percent in the coming 10 years. Recently the government has started a new scheme to make electronic components. Under the India Semiconductor Mission, about 10 projects ranging from chip making to packing and setting up big factories have been approved in India. After this, supercomputer can be completely designed in India.

Which sectors will benefit?

After the creation of a local supercomputer, it will help in making accurate weather predictions and making new medicines and vaccines. Not only this, weapons like missiles and fighter planes can be made stealthy and fast. Advancement in technology will be beneficial in planning high-tech jobs, electricity, water and traffic. India will become completely self-reliant in the field of technology.

Due to the Central Government’s programs like Self-reliant India and National Supercomputing Mission, everything from chip making to designing of CPU, GPU and AI accelerator can be done in India. A roadmap has been prepared for this. To do research on this, the government has given more than 38 thousand GPUs to colleges and startups. Work is being done to make AI chips and supercomputing chips in India.

ISM chief Amitesh Sinha said that the semiconductor, quantum and AI sectors in India want to move forward with the help of each other. India is ready to share technology with the world for the benefit of entire humanity. In the last 10 years, the manufacturing of electronics products in India has increased by 6 times.
