New Delhi:

The India vs Pakistan Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 match was halted for a brief time midway through the first innings after Pakistan put India to bat first.

The high-octane clash between the two sides was stopped in the first innings due to a plethora of moths and flies at the crease of the R Premadasa Stadium. The flies had troubled the players for some time, but they had to play with little solution at their disposal.

Meanwhile, the match was stopped after the 34th over with a groundstaff member bringing out a bug spray to get rid of the flies. The players went off the field as the play was halted for about 15 minutes. Earlier, a member of the Pakistan team brought out a fly spray, and the players had sprayed it over, but there was no respite from them.

India had earlier lost Smriti Mandhana in the ninth over, with Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana getting the opener LBW before Pratika Rawal was cleaned up by Sadia Iqbal in the 15th. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur was caught behind off Diana Baig on 19 in the 25th over. Harleen was caught at long-on by Nashra Sandhu off Rameen Shamim for 46 in the 34th over.

“We played a good series here before the WC. We’re thinking positively and are looking to do well. One unfortunate change – Amanjot isn’t playing (she’s ill), Renuka Thakur replaces her. We’ve gelled well as a t
