How to remove water stains from wash basin tap?
Wash basins installed in kitchen and bathroom add to the beauty of the house. The taps installed in them further enhance its beauty. But with time and repeated use, water stains accumulate on the tap. Which not only reduce the shine of the tap, but also spoil the look of the house. These stains are usually caused by minerals, calcium and magnesium present in water, which are very difficult to remove. If there are white stubborn water stains on the tap of your house, then you can clean it with the help of some home remedies.
white vinegar
Vinegar is acidic, which cuts away the layer of lime and minerals. For this, mix equal amounts of water and vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray it on the stained area and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Scrub with an old toothbrush or scrub pad and rinse with water. If there is a lot of stain on the tap, then wrap a cloth soaked in vinegar on the tap and clean it after an hour.
lemon and salt
The citric acid of the lemon and the roughness of the salt combine to remove stains. For this, sprinkle some salt on half a cut lemon. Rub it directly onto the stains on the steel faucet or sink. After 10 minutes, wash with fresh water and wipe with a dry cloth.
baking soda paste
Make a thick paste by mixing baking soda with some water. Apply it on tap stains. Let it dry for 15 minutes, then rub it with a scrub and wash it off.
hard water stain remover
If the stains are years old and won’t go away with home remedies, you can use a commercially available Limescale Remover or an HCl-based cleaner (like Harpic Bathroom Cleaner).
toothpaste
You can also use toothpaste to clean the water stains on the tap. For this, take a little toothpaste and apply it on the stained area of the tap. Then clean it by rubbing with a soft toothbrush or cloth.
