MUMBAI: The Executive Committee of the Centre for Narendra Modi Studies (CNMS – NaMo Kendra) has formally requested the President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu to confer the Bharat Ratna posthumously on the late Ratan Naval Tata, one of India’s most admired industrialists and philanthropists. Tata passed away on October 9, 2024.In a statement, Prof. Jasim Mohammad, chairman of CNMS, said: “Shri Ratan Tata was a visionary industrialist and a guiding light of ethical leadership, humility and compassion. His life’s work through the Tata Group and Tata Trusts has touched millions of lives and set a benchmark for nation-building and social responsibility. Awarding him the Bharat Ratna posthumously would be a fitting tribute to his unparalleled contributions to India and the world.”The Executive Committee highlighted that Ratan Tata’s contributions went far beyond business. He expanded the Tata Group globally while ensuring it remained committed to social welfare, education, and healthcare, transforming countless lives across India. The Centre for Narendra Modi Studies also announced that it will hold its second Ratan Tata Memorial Lecture on the first death anniversary of Ratan Naval Tata on October 9, 2025 in New Delhi. This lecture series will celebrate his legacy, exploring themes of ethical leadership, philanthropy, and nation-building through innovation, and will feature eminent speakers from business, academia, and social sectors.CNMS emphasized that awarding the Bharat Ratna to Ratan Tata posthumously would honour his extraordinary achievements and will inspire future generations to uphold the causes he championed.
