NEW DELHI: Actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, have given fresh statements to the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with an alleged Rs 60 crore fraud case. Kundra told investigators that his company, which traded in electrical and household appliances, suffered heavy losses following demonetisation. He added that these financial setbacks left the company unable to repay borrowed funds. The case was filed by businessman Deepak Kothari, who alleged that between 2015 and 2023, Shetty and Kundra persuaded him to invest Rs 60 crore in their now-defunct firm, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. Kothari claims the funds were misappropriated for the couple’s personal use. The EOW continues to investigate the allegations, recording statements from both Shetty and Kundra as part of the ongoing probe.
