Do you also get worried about remembering many passwords and create the same password for many websites or apps? Now, knowing the news that has come, perhaps you will avoid doing this. Passwords of millions of email users have been put at risk in a huge data security breach and it is claimed that Gmail users are also included in it. In fact, an Australian security researcher has claimed that the passwords of about 183 million people (183 million) users have been leaked online and even the passwords of Gmail have not been saved. Australian security researcher named Troy Hunt, who runs a breach notification site named Have I Been Pwned, has said that about 3.5 terabytes of data has been stolen. In this regard, New York Post has also claimed that about 183 million unique accounts have been affected by this security breach.

Claim of crores of usernames, passwords and website addresses stolen

Cyber security experts are considering this as one of the most serious online security breaches ever and are calling it a huge threat to internet users. In this, mainly malware networks secretly steal username, password and website address. For this they attack the affected devices and all this has not happened yet but it has just come to light. According to Troy Hunt, this breach in cyber security was happening for a year and this whole matter came to light because the stolen passwords, usernames and website addresses surfaced online this month and there was a stir as soon as they were revealed. However, this matter is not of now but its timing is now.

The leak, first discovered in April and made public last week, covered not only Gmail data, but also login information for Outlook, Yahoo, and hundreds of other web services. These stolen credentials will continue to reappear on multiple platforms, posing a major security risk. This is because many users reuse the same password across different accounts, from cloud storage and banking to social media.

Know what Google has said about this

However, Google has clearly said that the claims being made about the leaking of its Gmail passwords are fake. “Reports that a Gmail security breach could impact millions of users are false. Gmail’s defenses are strong and its users are safe. These false reports stem from a misunderstanding of the InfoStealer database, which routinely collects a variety of credential theft activities across the web. This is not indicative of a new attack targeted at any individual person, tool, or platform,” NewsFromGoogle said in a post on Xpress.
