BSNL
BSNL VoWiFi Service: Government telecom operator BSNL has started its VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi) service across the country. Through this new service, BSNL users will now be able to make calls with the help of Wi-Fi even in the absence of mobile network. BSNL is known for offering the most affordable recharge plans in India but network availability and call drops remain a big concern for many users. To overcome this problem and improve the voice quality during calls, BSNL has announced to extend the benefit of its VoWiFi across the country.
Double benefit for those living in remote areas
The benefit of BSNL’s VoWiFi service will be available to those users of the company who live in remote areas. Wherever the capacity of BSNL’s mobile network is reduced or there is no network, users will be able to avail the facility of calling with the help of home broadband. Whereas in urban areas, users continue to get connectivity even in no network zones like offices, basements etc. This service of BSNL will work only on supported mobile devices.
How can you activate this service?
If you are an Android smartphone user then activating BSNL VoWiFi is quite easy. However, it has to be kept in mind that this feature will work properly only if your smartphone supports Wi-Fi Calling.
If you have a compatible Android device then follow these steps to activate VoWiFi service-
- Open the Settings app on your smartphone.
- Go to Network and Internet.
- Tap SIM.
- Select your BSNL SIM and scroll down to find the Wi-Fi calling option.
- Turn on the Wi-Fi Calling switch.
After this feature is activated, whenever your mobile network is weak or useless and Wi-Fi is available, the call will automatically connect through Wi-Fi and you will not face any problem of call drop or sound quality. It is worth noting that users will not have to pay any extra charge for this. Through Wi-Fi Calling, users can not only make calls but will also be able to have long conversations without any interruption.
With the launch of this service of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, calls can be made even in no-network areas. Users will be able to avail calling facility by connecting the phone to their Wi-Fi. In this way, after private companies Airtel and Jio, BSNL has become the first company to provide VoWiFi service in the entire country.
