New Delhi: A Mumbai-Phuket IndiGo flight was diverted to Chennai after a suspected bomb threat message was found in the aircraft lavatory. The Airbus A320 aircraft took off from Mumbai at 3.33pm Friday and was flying over the Bay of Bengal when the threat message was discovered. The pilots then decided to divert the aircraft to Chennai, where it landed at 7.16pm.“IndiGo flight 6E 1089 operating from Mumbai to Phuket on Sept 19 was diverted to Chennai due to a security threat noticed onboard. As per established protocol, relevant authorities were immediately informed, and the flight will undergo necessary security checks in Chennai. Owing to night curfew at Phuket airport, resumption of the journey has been scheduled for later in the night,” said an IndiGo spokesperson.Efforts are being made to minimise inconvenience to customers, including offering them refreshments and sharing regular updates with them, the spokesperson added.
