A big statement regarding 6G service has come out in IMC 2025. Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal has mentioned the role of AI in 6G service in India at the India Mobile Congress. India has started preparations for 6G service. 6G service can be launched in India by 2030. At the India Mobile Congress, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also claimed that India will be among the leading countries to launch 6G service.

Important role of AI

Regarding 6G service in India, the Telecom Secretary said that AI will play an important role when we transition from 5G to 6G. AI will do the work of network intelligence and self-healing. The scope of AI will not be limited to generative chatbots only, it will replace many functions. It will be used in the front end as well as in the depth and middle of the network so that customer service can be improved.

Recently, 4G service based completely on indigenous technology has been launched in India. This 4G service of BSNL is completely 5G ready and 6G service in India will also be based on indigenous technology. For this, many start-up companies have given demonstration regarding 6G in India Mobile Congress. To launch 6G service in India, the network will be based on indigenous technology from gear to software.

6G trial will start in 2028

The report says that the trial for 6G service in India will start in 2028. With the service launching in 2030, it will be rolled out rapidly. 5G service has been rolled out rapidly in India. At present, 99 percent of the districts of India are connected to 5G network.

Regarding AI, the Telecom Secretary said that the government is using AI tools for deepfake, voice cloning, financial fraud and verification of voice and video identity. AI will also be used in the future for telecom networks, which will act as a lifeline for the network.
