Mumbai: Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray will drop a “bombshell” on vote theft in Mumbai through a presentation on Monday, said party functionaries. Drawing parallels with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s presentation in Sept on alleged mass deletion of voters before the 2023 Karnataka assembly elections and the Lok Sabha polls last year, they said Aaditya will “burst the bogus voting bomb” at a gathering of party functionaries.A scrutiny of the voter list by Sena (UBT) showed “a huge mess” in Mumbai, alleged a functionary. “The extent of the mess and the precautions to be taken to prevent bogus voting in the municipal elections will be presented by Aaditya.”“If there are flaws in the voter list itself, the [local body] election is meaningless. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said this with evidence in Delhi. Sena (UBT) has raised its voice in Maharashtra. Despite complaints to EC and followup by all opposition parties regarding irregularities in the voter list, no action has been taken. Sena (UBT) showed that many outside voters were added in Maharashtra during the 2024 assembly polls, but no steps were taken,” the functionary said. Last week, opposition parties had demanded that local body polls should be put off until voter lists are rectified. Thay plan to take out a morcha on Nov 1 to protest the alleged electoral roll irregularities. —Chaitanya Marpakwar
