Cyber criminals also make people their victims through SIM swap and call forwarding. They pretend to be agents of telecom companies and tell people about offers or advise them to change their SIM cards due to technical problems. After this they ask for documents to get a new SIM issued. Using the user’s documents, hackers activate the SIM of their number in their phone so that they can receive OTP and calls coming to the victim’s number. After this the fraud is carried out. Even in call forwarding, hackers forward all the calls coming to the victim’s number to their own number and commit fraud.

The Home Ministry has advised people to be cautious to avoid online fraud. Also, it is advised to ignore calls and messages coming from unknown numbers.
