Online Fraud Prevention Tips: Nowadays, incidents of online fraud are increasing rapidly and it is very important for citizens to know ways to avoid them. If you want to keep your money safe, it is important to keep your bank account and your hard-earned money safe. Here we are telling you about such rules which are going to be very useful in protecting you from online fraud or cyber fraud. Keep your hard-earned money safe by knowing these-
1. Use security features
2 Factor Authentication (2FA): Turn on 2FA on your bank apps, email, and social media like WhatsApp, Instagram. With this, no one will be able to open your account even if they know the password.
Keep a strong and different password i.e. keep a different password for every app. Do not choose easy passwords like birthday or mobile number.
2. Caution during transaction
Don’t scan QR codes: There is never a need to scan a QR code or enter a PIN to receive money. If someone is getting you scanned in the name of sending money, then it is a fraud.
Do not click on unknown links: Never click on links in SMS/emails like “Your electricity bill is due,” “Update KYC,” or “Win free rewards.”
3. Avoid new types of frauds like AI and digital arrest
Digital Arrest: If someone pretending to be police, CBI or customs officer scares you that you are trapped in some case and asks you to be on video call, then do not be afraid. Police never ask for money or arrest on video call.
AI and Deepfake: Nowadays scammers ask for money by imitating the voice or face of their loved ones. In such a situation, before sending money, call the person on another number and confirm.
4. Keep personal information secret
Do not share OTP/PIN: Even a person pretending to be a bank employee will never ask you for OTP or PIN. Don’t tell this to anyone.
Social media privacy: Don’t publicly post your travel plans, home address or personal information. Scammers and fraudsters use this information to trap you.
