UIDAI has recently launched a new Aadhaar app, in which users are going to get many new features. This new app of Aadhaar will eliminate the hassle of the user carrying physical documents. UIDAI, the Aadhaar card issuing agency, through its official X handle has asked users to keep it safe. The agency has told 5 ways for users to keep their Aadhaar card safe to keep their digital identity safe and avoid online fraud.

Why keep Aadhar card safe?

By using Aadhaar card information, hackers can commit online fraud, cyber fraud and scam on you. This is why UIDAI has advised to keep it safe. The agency said that your Aadhar card is the gateway to essential services.

UIDAI has advised users to never share the OTP linked to their Aadhar card with anyone. By sharing OTP of Aadhaar card, your personal information can be stolen. Without OTP i.e. One Time Password, your Aadhar card cannot be accessed.

Use masked Aadhar card

Aadhar card is used for many services. UIDAI has advised to use masked Aadhaar card for essential services. By doing this you can avoid cyber fraud. The full 12 digits of your Aadhaar are not visible in the masked Aadhaar card. In such a situation, your Aadhaar number cannot be shared with anyone.

Biometric lock on

By visiting Aadhaar app or website, save your card with biometric lock. By doing this, the fingerprint, iris and facial information linked to your Aadhaar card is locked and no one can misuse it.

Do not share details

UIDAI said that you should not share the photo or image of your Aadhar card on social media platforms or anywhere online. By doing this your personal information will not be shared with anyone.

Use the helpline number

If any kind of fraud or cyber crime has happened to you, then immediately call the cyber crime helpline number 1930 or you can also contact the UIDAI helpline number 1947.
