Bharat Taxi Services: Bharat Taxi is a new cooperative ride-hailing service that will officially launch in India on January 1, 2026. Unlike Uber and Ola, it operates on a driver-owned model that promises zero commission, no surge pricing and fair earnings for drivers.

Service is starting from 1st January

Bharat Taxi service in the country has been announced to start from January 1, 2026. It is an innovative taxi service in which customers will get the option to book cabs, auto and bike taxis and all this can be done through a specially developed application. Although it looks like Uber, Ola or Rapido, it is completely different from them. This service has already started in beta version in some areas of Delhi and Gujarat, giving users some idea of how the execution of the service is going to be.

What is Bharat Taxi?

Bharat Taxi operates on a co-operative taxi service model. This means that control of the service lies with the drivers and not with any private company or investor. This can also be called ‘Amul model for taxis’, in which thousands of taxis jointly operate the service. Like other taxi apps, it provides easy ride booking facility for the users. This gives drivers more control and earning opportunities.

Whose initiative is Bharat Taxi?

This service is supported by New Delhi based Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited. Jayen Mehta, chairman of the cooperative society, is also the managing director of Amul. The Ministry of Cooperation of the Government of India also has the support of its development and services. This is a big and first of its kind initiative in the Indian transportation market.

How does Bharat Taxi work?

Bharat Taxi operates on a commission-free business model. This ensures that drivers get 80% to 100% of their earnings back at the end of the day. This is in contrast to the commission charged by most online cab services. Although drivers will have to pay a small fee to use the platform, it will be very small and will only be used for operational expenses. For commuters, this model could mean there will be no surge pricing, and fares for routes such as home or office will remain stable.

How to download and use Bharat Taxi?

Bharat Taxi application is available on Google Play Store (Android) and Apple App Store (iPhone). Currently, beta testing of the app is going on, hence its services are limited. The final version of the app may differ after its nationwide launch. In this app, the same backend support technology as ONDC supported Namma Yatri app has been used.
