DoT has shared this information through its official X handle. In just a few months of its launch, this app has been downloaded by more than 1.4 crore Indian users.

Recently, the government has made it mandatory for mobile phone manufacturing companies to pre-install the Sanchar Sathi app. Many companies including Apple had raised objections regarding this, after which the government made this app optional for the users and abolished its necessity. However, despite this controversy, the popularity of Sanchar Sathi app has increased significantly. Knowing the benefits of the app, lakhs of users are downloading it daily.

Daily more than 3 lakh downloads

More than 3 lakh people are downloading the Sanchar Sathi app daily in December, which is almost 4 times more than the daily 80 thousand in November. Sanchar Sathi app has been launched by the Department of Telecommunications to prevent cyber crime as well as to create awareness about many digital features including identification of fake mobile phones. Users can report any incoming communication, messages and international calls on the phone.

After reporting on this app, action is taken by the Department of Telecommunications on fake calls and messages. According to the Department of Telecommunications, thousands of mobile phones involved in cyber fraud are blocked on a daily basis. At the same time, this app also helps people in tracking lost mobile phones and blocking IMEI numbers. Lakhs of mobile handsets have been traced after being reported through this app.

Through the Sanchar Sathi app, you can also check the genuineness of electronic devices and find out how many SIM cards are registered in your name. DoT has expressed its gratitude for the millions of downloads of the app and the trust the users have shown in the app.
