youtube on tv
YouTube TV Interface: YouTube has started working on changing the interface for its TV app and has started rolling out this change. Through this, clutter i.e. congestion of text or buttons on the screen can be reduced and the remote friendly navigation of the TV will be improved. With this refreshed interface for the TV app, YouTube wants to ensure that users can get the best and easiest visual experience through the remote while watching YouTube on the big screen.
Updated TV interface has been glimpsed
The updated TV interface was first glimpsed earlier this year and is now appearing on devices like the Google TV streaming platform and Apple TV. Instead of changing the entire design, YouTube has focused on making the screen cleaner, reducing unnecessary elements, and making frequently used controls easily accessible. Whatever is new in design, you can know it here.
The style of watching the title of the video will change
The first thing you’ll see is the title of the video. Instead of being inside the main player interface, Titus has been moved to the upper-left corner of the screen. It’s no longer clickable, which may sound a bit limiting, but the idea behind it is simple – to showcase the video prominently without any additional overlays.
YouTube introduces a new description button
To balance this change, YouTube has introduced a new description button. Tapping it opens a separate panel in which video details, creator information and comments are all available at one place. This keeps the main playback screen clean and information easily accessible.
Playback controls are now remote-friendly
- The biggest improvement has been in the system of playback controls. The buttons are now arranged systematically in three parts below the scrubber bar, making navigation easier when using the TV remote.
- Left side: Channel name, description button and subscribe
- Middle: Previous video, play/pause and next video
- Right Side: Like, Dislike, Comment, Save, Closed Caption and Settings
- This layout seems more favorable to traditional streaming apps and reduces the need to frequently change menus while watching a video.
Another small change is the always visible subscribe button. It now remains on the screen and changes according to the content. Some of you may also see additional features depending on the content. Live sports streams may see a multiview option, while YouTube Premium and YouTube Music subscribers can choose display mode settings for better visual customisation.
