Starlink’s satellite internet service has been awaited in India for a long time. Elon Musk’s company is currently building a base station in India. After the completion of the spectrum allocation process, Starlink’s satellite service will be launched in India. Recently, the pricing of Starlink’s satellite internet service was also revealed, which the company termed as a website glitch.

Elon Musk confirmed

Now Elon Musk has confirmed the soon launch of his Starlink satellite broadband service in India. Musk has shared this information through his official X handle. Musk has confirmed in his tweet that Starlink is ready to start its satellite service in India. A senior official of the company has recently met Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, after which there are indications of starting the service. However, the company is still waiting for the final approval from the government.

Responding to the post of the Union Minister, Musk posted that Starlink is ready to provide its service in India. In his tweet, Jyotiraditya Scindia, while giving information about the meeting of Starlink Vice President Lauren Dreyer and his leadership team with government officials, said that the aim is to improve internet access in remote areas in India with the help of satellite.

What is the delay about?

Let us tell you that apart from Starlink, Jio, Airtel and Amazon are also preparing to launch satellite internet service in India. The government has given approval to all the companies for satellite service. However, there is a dilemma regarding spectrum allocation for satellite service by the Department of Telecommunications and TRAI. Starlink will launch its satellite internet service only after this process is completed. At present Starlink is setting up its base stations in about 8 cities of India.
