Smriti Mandhana was set to tie the knot with Palash Muchhal on November 23; however, the wedding has been postponed. The couple recently hosted a mehndi ceremony ahead of the marriage with several women cricketers and Mandhana’s teammates part of the celebrations.

New Delhi:

Smriti Mandhana’s wedding with Palash Muchhal has been postponed as the cricketer’s father has fallen ill, Mandhana’s manager Tuhin Mishra confirmed. Mandhana’s marriage was scheduled to take place on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra.

Mandhana’s manager confirmed the development to the media. “Today in the morning, when Smriti’s father was having breakfast, his health deteriorated. We waited for a bit, thinking he would get fine. But when it deteriorated further, we called for an ambulance and took him to the hospital, and he is under observation,” her manager, Tuhin Mishra, said.

“Smriti is very close to her father. She has decided that the marriage will be indefinitely postponed until he gets well. Her father is under observation and the doctor has told that he will have to stay in hospital until he recovers. Smriti is clear, she wants to see her father well and then get married,” he said.

Mandhana and Muchhal recently hosted the mehndi ceremony, as only close ones attended the event, including Mandhana’s cricket teammates. The Indian women’s cricketers kept the fans updated with the ceremony pictures on their social media.

The wedding would be an intimate one, as informed by Palash. “Yes, it’s an afternoon wedding. We haven’t invited too many people, just our close ones. There are about 70 guests from my side and 70 from hers. It’s an intimate wedding with no reception. We’ll just have a small get-together with a few people from the political and cricketing world. It is going to be a close-knit celebration,” Palash had said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent his wishes to the couple. “Walking hand in hand through every season of life, may the couple find strength in each other’s presence and their hearts, minds, and souls be in harmony.

May their dreams intertwine and grow together, guiding them toward a future filled with joy and deep understanding,” Modi wrote for the couple.

“May Smriti and Palaash build a shared life rooted in trust, standing by each other always, embracing responsibilities with love and growing together through each other’s strengths and imperfections.

“As they start a new, beautiful life together, the grace of Smriti’s cover drive meets the lilting musical symphony of Palaash in a wonderful partnership,” he added.

Recently, the women cricketers shot a video revealing Mandhana and Palash’s marriage. With the background song of ‘Samjho ho hi gaya’ from the popular movie ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’, Mandhana and her teammates danced to the song. Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil and Arundhati Reddy danced with Mandhana.
