Not only on any special festival but every day a huge crowd of devotees gather here. Devotees come from far and wide just to have darshan of Bihari ji. But do you know when the doors of Banke Bihari Temple open and close? Let us know.
What does it mean to open the door?
Opening of doors in Banke Bihari temple means that devotees can now have darshan of the Lord. This practice has been going on in Banke Bihari temple for centuries. This darshan of God happens only for some time. Because the doors are opened and closed again and again so that the spell of God can be broken. There is a religious belief that if the devotees gaze upon the Lord continuously, He will go away with Him, hence the curtain is drawn quickly.
What time does the temple open?
Banke Bihari Temple opens at 8:45 am in the winter season and closes at 12 noon. It is open from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Whereas, in summer, morning darshan starts from 7:45 am, while it closes by 12:00 pm and evening darshan opens by 4:15 pm and closes by 8:30 pm.
The doors of the temple open and close only at these scheduled times. “Mangal Aarti” is performed only once a year, on the morning of Janmashtami, during the darshan of Bihari Ji. On normal days, Bihari ji is suddenly put behind the curtain, so that the devotees cannot see the Lord for long. This is a special tradition of this temple. Therefore, if you are going to Banke Bihari Temple, then definitely keep in mind the time and visit Bihari ji with devotion.
