Material
Mawa (Khoya) – 250 grams
Sugar (ground)- 3/4 cup (or as per taste)
Ghee-1/2 teaspoon (for frying)
Cardamom powder-1/2 teaspoon
Milk-1/2 teaspoon
Method of preparation
roasted mawa
Heat a heavy bottomed wok or pan on low flame. Add mawa in it and keep stirring so that it does not burn. Fry the mawa until its color turns light brown. This process increases the shelf life of mawa. If the mixture seems dry while frying, keep adding 1 teaspoon ghee or a little milk in between.
cool off
When the mawa is roasted well and turns light in color, turn off the gas. Mawa may burn due to the pan being hot, so keep stirring it continuously until it cools down a bit, or take out the mixture in a plate and spread it.
prepare the mixture
When the mixture becomes lukewarm, add powdered sugar and cardamom powder to it and mash it well so that everything comes together and the mixture becomes slightly smooth.
make trees
Take small round balls from the mixture. Press them lightly to give them the traditional flat shape of Peda. Mathura Peda is ready! These can be eaten at room temperature or kept in the refrigerator for several days.
