The central government is banning apps showing obscene and objectionable content. The government banned several apps including owls, Alt and ordered internet service providers to stop public reach of these apps in India. The government says that these apps were showing pornographic materials, which was having a wrong effect in the society and it is also against the law. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has instructed the Internet service providers to block them immediately after serving pornographic content through these apps. 25 apps identified

According to the report, the government has identified a total of 25 such apps and websites, which were showing advertisements with objectionable and obscene materials. In these apps, Alt, Owl, Big Shots App, Desiflix, Boomx, Navarsa Light, Gulab App, Kangan App, Bull App, Jalwa App, Wallet App, Wao Entertainment, Luke Entertainment, Hit Entracement, Hit Prof. Sol Talkies, Hotx VIP, MoodX, Mojflix, Feno, Triplix, Adda TV, Neonax VIP, Hustle App, Fugi and other names.

Violation of legal rules

The government has taken action on these apps under Section 67 and 67A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, Section 294 of the Indian Justice Code, 2023 and Section 4 of the Pornography Prohibition Act, 1986. According to these laws, any content that hurts the dignity of women, spoils social values ​​or spreading pornographic, is considered to be a crime.
