Ulhasnagar: Ulhasnagar city witnessed an alarming incident of vandalism late Friday night after unidentified miscreants damaged several vehicles parked at Bhau Gop Behrani Chowk in Camp-3. Around seven to eight cars, one tempo and nearly 15 to 20 two-wheelers were targeted, with windows, mirrors and other exterior parts smashed, causing significant financial loss to vehicle owners. The sudden act of hooliganism has triggered fear, frustration and anger among residents.In earlier cases, unidentified persons had vandalised around 10 vehicles — including tempos, cars and two-wheelers — parked in Veer Tanaji Nagar. The back-to-back occurrences have raised serious concerns about law and order in the city, prompting residents to question the effectiveness of night surveillance and policing in vulnerable areas.According to locals and eyewitnesses, Friday’s incident occurred during late-night hours when the area was deserted. On Saturday morning, residents discovered the damaged vehicles and immediately informed the Central Police. Police officials reached the spot, conducted a panchnama and registered a case against unidentified persons. An investigation is underway.Residents have urged the police administration to thoroughly examine CCTV footage from the locality to identify the culprits. Locals believe the incident was deliberately aimed at disturbing peace in the area and fear that such acts may continue if strict action is not taken.Deepak Chhatlani, president of the Ulhasnagar Traders Association, said, “We demand swift arrest of the offenders and strict punishment to send a strong message and deter similar incidents in the future.” He also appealed for increased night patrolling to ensure safety and maintain order in the region.
