Crackdown on AI content

Questions have been continuously raised regarding AI. Preparations are being made to curb deepfake AI videos and content on social media platforms. Recently the government has made a plan to regulate deepfake content. At the same time, neighboring country China has tightened its grip on social media influencers. China has made a law to label deepfake videos or content for sharing on social media. If this is not done, major action can be taken.

Control on AI content

Chinese content creators will have to clearly write on AI content that it is AI generated. The Chinese government says that this has been brought to stop information, copyright and rumours. Cyberspace administration rules have been made in China, in which it will be clearly written on the AI content of social media influencers whether it is made of AI or not. Apart from this, service providers will also have to keep records of such content for the next 6 months.

The government says that if anyone removes the AI label or tampers with it, action will be taken against him. CAC has described it as part of the 2025 campaign named Qinglang i.e. clean and bright. The purpose of this campaign is to stop rumors on the internet. Not only in China and India, there is a demand to make strict rules regarding AI all over the world.

The use of AI content is increasing rapidly. These look so real that common users are unable to detect the difference between them. The European Union has also enacted the AI Act, in which labeling of AI content has been made mandatory. Important frameworks regarding AI have been launched in India, which include National Strategy for AI (2018), Principles for Responsible AI (2021) and Operationalizing Principles for Responsible AI. Although these laws are not stringent, these frameworks are necessary steps to prevent misuse of AI.
