Urad Dal Bara Recipe

First step- To make Bara, you have to take 1 cup washed urad dal and 1/4 cup washed moong dal. You can make it with only urad dal. If there are peeled lentils then they can also be used. After soaking the lentils, you just have to rub them and remove their skin.

Second step- Now wash the dal thoroughly 2-3 times and soak the dal in water for the whole night. In the morning, drain the water from the lentils and grind them in a mixer. You can grind both the pulses together or separately. Add 3-4 spoons of water to it and make it like a smooth paste.

Third step- Take out the dal and stir it in one direction only, either by hand or with the help of a spoon. The dal has to be whipped until it becomes very creamy and fluffy. Now take water in a bowl and put pulses in it and check. If the dal starts floating on water, then understand that the dal is ready to make Bara.

Fourth step- Now fill a bowl with lukewarm water. Mix salt and asafoetida in water. You do not have to add salt or anything else to the lentil paste. Now apply water on your hands, flatten it with dal and make a hole in the middle, make a jura and bake. The bara has to be baked on medium flame only. Now keep putting the bara in asafoetida water. The jumbo will swell in 10 minutes.

Fifth step- Take out all the balls from the water, squeeze them and keep them in a plate. Now you have to take buttermilk or make buttermilk by diluting curd. Add black salt, red chili powder and roasted cumin powder to buttermilk and mix. To make tadka, pour oil in the pan, add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and add long chopped green chillies or red chillies on top. Add the prepared tadka to the buttermilk.

Last step- Now dip the bowls that you have taken out of water in this buttermilk and leave them. When you want to eat the bara, take it out, sprinkle green coriander and cumin powder on top and serve. If the whey is sour then you can add some sugar to it. These juras are very tasty to eat and dissolve as soon as they enter the mouth.
