How to identify true and fake messages?
To identify true and fake SMS, you have to take care of some codes. If you know about these codes then you can avoid fraud from happening to you. The sender of the message coming on your phone will have S, G or P written at the end after ‘-‘. Such messages are genuine and the information given in these messages will not be fake. At the same time, messages coming from other numbers may be fake.
What do these codes mean?
S – S is written at the end of messages related to banking services, transactions, telecom services etc. This means that this message is related to some service which you have availed.
G – At the end of the messages containing government schemes, alerts sent by the government etc., you will see G i.e. Government.
P – At the end of the promotional messages of whitelisted companies, you will see P meaning promotion. These will be those messages whose senders have been whitelisted by the Department of Telecommunications.
Generally, promotional messages coming to your number are sent by banks, e-commerce companies, telecom operators, government institutions etc. Cyber criminals fraud people by sending messages similar to these messages. In fake messages, links to apps containing viruses are shared, on clicking which these viruses reach your phone and steal your personal information. Criminals can use this information to fraud you.
