NPCI i.e. National Payment Corporation of India and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have announced new features for UPI users. Now users will not need PIN while making UPI payment. Users will also be able to make UPI payment by showing their face. However, a limit has been set for making transactions through this feature.
Special feature came in UPI
NPCI has announced biometric feature for UPI users. Apart from this, users will now be able to make UPI payments through their smart glasses also. Both these features have been done to make UPI even easier for the users. This feature of NPCI can soon be used in apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm. Users will be able to use their face or fingerprint instead of PIN to make payments.
NPCI has kept the UPI payment limit for biometric feature up to Rs 5000, that is, users will be able to make UPI payment only up to Rs 5,000 using biometric verification. Users will benefit from this feature for small transactions at present. They will not need to enter PIN again and again to make payment.
How will it work?
- This feature of UPI will be rolled out soon. After the feature is rolled out, users will have to open UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytme.
- After this, to make payment, go to the contact or QR code option.
- Then the payment amount will have to be entered. After this, select the bank from which payment is to be made.
- After this there is an option to enter UPI PIN. Users will also see the biometric option here.
- By choosing this option, users will be able to make UPI payment by entering face or fingerprint.
This feature will work to verify the biometric details of your Aadhar card such as facial expression, retina scan and fingerprint. After this the payment process can be completed.
