NEW DELHI: A speeding Lamborghini rammed into a divider on Mumbai’s Coastal Road on Sunday morning, officials said, leaving the driver unhurt. The 52-year-old driver, Atish Shah of Nepean Sea Road, was reportedly heading towards Colaba in south Mumbai when he lost control of the car. “Shah… lost control of the wheels, and as a result, the car skidded on the road and rammed into the divider,” an official said. The front of the vehicle was damaged, and it was later towed away from the scene. Prima facie, the police suspect that the wet road contributed to the accident, following a downpour in the city. Worli police have asked the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to examine the car for any technical faults. A case has been registered against Shah under relevant sections for rash driving. A video of the incident quickly circulated on social media. Raymond Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Gautam Singhania, who is passionate about cars, shared the clip on X and said, “Another day, another Lamborghini mishap. This time on Mumbai’s Coastal Road. Do these cars even have traction? From catching fire to losing grip – what’s going on with Lamborghini?” The incident has reignited public discussion on road safety and the challenges of controlling high-powered vehicles on Mumbai’s busy thoroughfares, particularly during wet conditions.
